Spring 2010
Happy Spring! Although you may not know Spring is here based on the
weather coming across Northern Nevada. We have had days in the
mid-70's to low-80's followed by snow. Typical Nevada. However,
the pool and hot tub are now open for the season and yes, the pool is
heated. Memorial Day Weekend is quickly approaching. We hope you
have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
Walker River Resort's bar is now featuring five specialty martinis. We
have been working diligently during the winter to fine tune each recipe.
They are delicious! Be sure to stop in at the bar to try a "Puckery
Pirate" or the "Nevada Peach". If you have room for dessert
after dinner, there is also the "Hersheytini", a combination of Godiva Dark
Chocolate Liqueur and Raspberry Vodka. Kona Brewing Company's
Longboard Ale is now on tap - a taste of the Hawaiian Islands without ever
leaving Nevada.
Walker River Resort will be hosting the "Relay for Life" Sporting Clays
Shoot on June 12th, 2010. We hope you can join us for this important Cancer
Association fundraiser. For more information regarding start times and
cost, please visit the Sporting Clays page or contact Linda McDaniels at
(775) 266-4648. Also, this winter a 15th station was added to the
Green Course, a crossing pair high overhead. We encourage you to try
shooting this new station as well as shooting the other stations on the
Green or White Courses. Our sporting clays manger, Shane Gleason, is
constantly changing machines for new and challenging target presentations.
Big Bad Wolf will be performing on June 18th, 2010. Please make your
reservations as soon as possible as the full hook-ups are already reserved.
Reservations can now be made online for Cottages and RV sites on our
website--the site you are currently visiting;). If you are making
reservations as part of group, please mention the group name in the comments
section. You can also use the comment section for site requests.
When visiting the area, you might make plans to travel the Virginia &
Truckee (V&T) Railroad. This historic train runs from Carson
City to Virginia City Thursday through Sunday starting May 27th, 2010.
The railroad was originally
constructed in 1869 by private investors to connect the silver mines at
Virginia City to the mills in Carson City and was known as the crookedest
railroad in the country. Visit
www.steamtrain.org for more
information.
The Resort’s main hosting season begins April 1st and ends October 31st. During those 214 days, we hope to see many of you. Walker River Resort is meant to be enjoyed and we enjoy having our
guests visit. Your suggestions and ideas are also appreciated.
We hope that in the past 27 years, Walker River Resort has become a special
and unique place to visit and that our guests will continue building fond memories of their time spent here.
