SIXTH ANNUAL COWBOY & COWGIRL SPORTING CLAY

 SECOND ANNUAL GONG SHOOT

 WALKER RIVER RESORT May 10th and 11th, 2008

Make plans to attend the Seventh Annual COWBOY SPORTING CLAYS SHOOT on Sunday, May 11, 2008 and the Third Annual GONG SHOOT on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The price to shoot this special Cowboy Cowgirl Sporting Clays Shooting event is fifty dollars ($60.00). This fee includes one-hundred rounds of sporting clays targets, an outstanding hamburger lunch, and prize money for all you winners. The shooting will start following the shooters meeting and squad assignments at 10:00 A.M. Dress in your best cowboy and cowgirl shooting costumes.

We will shoot six different Sporting Clay categories: Winchester 97 shotguns (any barrel length) Side by Side double barrels Any modern shotgun Coach guns (22 inches or shorter) Side by Side double barrel shooting black powder shot shells 410 shotguns (a new category) A minimum of three shooters are needed to recognize any category. If you wish to shoot two categories please let me know so you can be squaded accordingly. Let me know in advance if you intend to participate so the Walker River Resort will know how many lunches will be needed on Sunday. We will try to put an experienced shooter on each squad for coaching. Tell your cowboy shooter friends and your non-cowboy shooter friends about this fun packed event.

On Saturday for the third year in a row – Cowboy Gong Shooting!! We have planned a Saturday GONG SHOOT for your further enjoyment. It will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2008. This is a rifle shoot for iron sighted rifles shooting lead bullets only. We will shoot ten rounds at three hundred yards and ten rounds at four hundred yards and ten rounds at five hundred yards. This is not a timed shoot so black powder shooters will have plenty of time to blow tube.

The targets will be approximately twenty four by thirty inches. (Note: If only a few shooters show up to shoot we will shoot fifteen rounds at each target) If the shooters want more yardage next year, we have the ability to extend the ranges out to one thousand yards.

The Gong rifle shooting categories will be: Cowboy rifle (any pistol cartridge). Single shot rifle (smaller than 40 caliber). Buffalo single shot rifle (40 caliber or larger) Repeater (smaller than 40 caliber) Big bore repeater rifle (40 caliber or larger). Buffalo single shot Black powder (40 caliber or larger) Buffalo single shot Black powder (less than 40 caliber) Big bore repeater Black powder (40 caliber or larger). We will have sight-ins from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday and at 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 AM on Saturday and will start shooting the match at 10:00 A.M. Range Finders Welcome...The cost for the rifle shoot will be twenty dollars ($30.00). Each additional gun will be charged five dollars ($5.00). We will be awarding framed certificates to the winners in both men’s and women’s categories.

We have not planned to serve lunch on Saturday so plan on bringing your own. The Walker River Resort bar will be open on Saturday and Sunday.
